Homeound: Last Day of Our Vacation

We did a little shopping before we went back to Baguio. We woke up early because we don’t want to be caught in the long line at J. Co. My sister said that the branch at Greenbelt open at 10 am so we tried to go there as early as we can, it was payday Friday as well. It’s our second time at Greenbelt so I already knew where to find which. It’s not so big after all.

When we arrived there was already a line but we didn’t have to wait so long. We ordered 2 dozens of donuts for P550, (it’s cheaper if you buy 2 dozens,) and 2 glasses of iced green tea. I’ve learned that when you buy a drink from them you will a free Glazzy donut. Great!

See, it’s so early but people are already buying these doughnuts!

Manila Ocean Park: Trails to Antartica

The last part of our Mania Ocean Park trip. Manila Ocean Park is very proud of this attraction because it boasts 9 cute penguins. This is the first time I’ve seen a penguin up close. And I can say they very peaceful and friendly creatures.

People are not allowed to use flash photography on them but there are some people who don’t know how to follow rules. I think there is a reason why that’s prohibited.

We didn’t enjoy the snow village part because even if I’m from Baguio I can’t stand the -15 degrees temperature, plus Uno was already shivering even if we were provided jackets. I think we only stayed there for 3 minutes. It’s the first time that I felt great going out into the heat of Manila.

There’s also a hall where there are facts about Antarctica, things that you should know about the place and especially the creatures that live there.

Manila Ocean Park’s souvenir shop, I just bought a fridge magnet because I felt that their products are a bit overpriced.

Manila Ocean Park: Penguin Talk Show

The second to the last leg of our Ocean Park Adventure. At first, I thought that the Penguin Talk Show will feature a real penguin. When I saw the entrance to the attraction I thought it would be cold, when we went inside, yes it was cold, it was cold because of the AC.

Inside is a giant screen that showed a virtual penguin who talks like a live person. The voice of the penguin speaks Filipino and he was quite funny. It was really a talk show in which he speaks to his audience. We were asked questions in relation to Valentine’s Day and penguins. The host asked questions, he interacts with his audience. I believe there is a hidden camera around the room because he knows how we look like. Like duh? There really is a camera so he can see us.

It was very informative, we learned a lot of things about penguins. Some of us know this but for those who doesn’t know, male penguins are monogamous creatures. Meaning they only mate with only one female penguin their entire life. How I wish humans are that loyal. Male penguins protect their family very much. Female penguins are the ones responsible for getting food while the male penguins are the ones who takes care of their little ones. Male penguins are the ones who cover the female’s eggs. They never leave their eggs until they hatch.

Penguins are one of the most amazing and cutest creatures. I’m glad we went to this show because I really learned a lot.

Waiting for the show to start.

Manila Ocean Park: Sea Lion Show

I think this is one of the best parts of going to Manila Ocean Park. The very smart sea lions really put a smile on your face. It’s really amazing how you can train these animals to act like humans.

Uno watched this, he was amused by the sea lions when they started dancing. They are so cute! I admire their trainers I know it’s not an easy job to train these sea lions. It takes passion and you should love what your doing. All I can say is KUDOS to them.

Manila Ocean Park: All-Star Bird Show

After the the Jellies Exhibit we went to the All-Star Bird Show. The lady in the ticket boot was so nice that she arranged our schedule so that we can go to all attractions and shows that are included in the voucher that we purchased.

This show is nice, we enjoyed it but Uno got bored of it. I guess he’s just not interested with birds.

The birds did some tricks, even solved math problems. However there was an issue with the first bird they used to solve the math problem, he was not able to answer it. Probably he was so stressed out because it was so hot that day. Another bird saved him and was able to solve the math problem.

While waiting for the show to start.

Manila Ocean Park: Oceanarium

On Valentine’s day we went to the Manila Ocean Park. As mentioned on this post, I purchased a voucher from Metro Deal which was a great deal. This one has great advantages aside from the huge discount. We didn’t have to fall in line. The queue was so long I tell you.

First stop is the Oceanarium. Deep sea life is just so amazing! There are fishes that I have never seen in my life.

Travel: Greenbelt + Divisoria

In the morning of Wednesday, we went to Greenbelt to kill time because my sister’s shift ends at 2 pm. Yes we did kill some time. a few hours is not enough to go around Greenbelt, it’s a big big mall. The reason why I want to go there is Carmex. Yes! We went all the way to Greenbelt just to buy Carmex. I know it’s shallow, but you know we don’t have have PCX in Baguio. I bought 2 balms immediately.

Carmex in orginal and strawberry flavors.

I have to say Greenbelt is a high-end mall. Most of the stores they have are high end brands. Like my sisters say, it’s a “pang-mayaman” mall hehe.

After going around that Greenbelt Uno was already throwing tantrums. It was hot and he was tired of walking so before we went to my sister’s apartment, we went back to our hostel room to freshen up and to rest a bit. After 45 minutes, we, especially Uno, were ready to go again.

This Mango sign in Greenbelt is bigger in person.

Travel: MOA

Isa lang ang masasabi ko sa MOA, ang laki! Dalawa pala yun hehe. I don’t want to sound probinsyana and ignorant but it’s really a huge mall. It’s true when they say that a day is not enough for you to visit each and every store in this mall. It was a wrong move to wear flats. I should have worn my trusty Keds. The mall is so huge that my feet were sore when we went home. After an hour of walking, I already wanted to take my shoes off because my feet are really in pain. Tiis na lang, I don’t want to walk around barefoot, nakakahiya yun haha!

We ate at my sister’s apartment first before we went to THE mall.

The way to Manila (actually Makati)

We had a pretty smooth travel to Manila. It was quick I think, Victory liner buses only had 3 15-minute stop overs which is good because it makes travelling quick. Uno was cooperative, he didn’t cry or complain.

I’ve always been hesitant to visit the metro because I don’t want the warm weather but a lot has changed. I want to travel with my son. I want him to see the world. Uno was so amazed with the tall buildings, he was so happy when he saw the train (MRT/LRT.) Just seeing my son’s reaction makes me smile. Kahit pagod ako kakalakad, happy pa din, basta masaya si Uno.
