This morning when I logged in to Bloglovin’ I received a message that Google Reader is closing. I think everybody in cyberspace knew about that already. So Bloglovin’ made an easier way to import your feeds from Google Reader.
Earlier today, Google announced that they will be retiring Google Reader. The reason according to the official blog of Google Reader is they would like to have fewer products in which they could put all their resources for better user experience.
I’ve used this ever since Golden introduced this RSS reader to me. I have always loved it because it allowed me to read all the blogs that I follow in one place. It’s very convenient tool, but sometimes good things must come to an end.
Let’s take a break from my travel entries for today, shall we? I would like to tell you about a new service I was offered which might be interesting to bloggers out there.
I signed up with the first marketing campaign by Top Blogs in which we were given one year subscription of their product which is web hosting with your very own domain. The service costs P1600 which was a pretty nice offer but since it’s a campaign I got the service for free. I’ve been wanting to get my own domain for a long time, so I thought this was my chance to try it for free.
I had a difficult time signing up for the service, there were a lot of issues, well that’s a given because this website is just starting. Given those issue, they have very helpful people namely Dani and Luis who’ve helped me so much until I was finally able to sign-up for the service. I have my own domain finally, it’s eypolapol.com.
I am now part of a marketing program of topblogs.com.ph in which I signed up to be review a web hosting company in exchange for the 1 year FREE subscription they gave us. I will now have my own domain and everything. Exciting!
I think this is the next step for my blog. I know it will go well only if I can log-in to the account I created. I don’t know what’s wrong, I can ‘t log-in to it. It’s crazy! Will update soon for my new url. Hihi
No it’s not the most coveted verification on Twitter which I’m dreaming of but it’s the Pinterest kind of verification. Pinterest came up with their verification process for your website so people will know that the website is really yours, it’s actually a way of verifying your identity. We moved to a new apartment, consequently, our cable T.V. service and internet service has to be transferred. I requested our cable service to be transferred October 24th and I also paid the P500 transfer fee, I also requested that the service be transferred to our new house by Friday because that’s my mother’s only recreation. Come Friday, somebody texted my mom asking if we were at home, she replied she will be at home all day but nobody showed up. A few days after, somebody came and said that the engineering team still has to check the lines.
In the coming weeks my mom kept calling their call center in Baguio because nobody was showing up. She even spoke to one rude agent who said “hindi naman ako engineering ma’am,” my mom just said to that person “bwisit!” and dropped the call. Can you blame my mother for being frustrated, she’s elderly and her only recreation is to watch T.V. all day. Sky Cable should train their agents how to empathize with their customers, that’s not the right way to answer a frustrated customer. I know that because I’m a call center agent.
A few days after, I called them, all they say is that they will follow it up. Technicians kept coming every other day but they didn’t install the service, they would always say that they need to wait for the approval of the engineering team. One tech who came said that we gave the wrong address, that’s totally not true. The person who processed my request wasn’t listening well. They don’t know what active listening is.
My internet service at home sucks big time. We haven’t had internet for a week now, it’s been sporadic that it’s totally unusable. I’ve called them many times and all they say is that they are doing a study. What study s**t is that? And they even tell me that they don’t know when that so called “study” will be finished.
I asked my husband to go to Smart Wireless Center to cancel the whole damn thing, because the account is under his name, but they won’t allow us to. And they even have the guts to tell us that we have to pay for the termination fee. Hell no! Well at least they made a deal with us. They told us that we will not pay for the monthly fee while the “study” is ongoing.
We have paid one thousand pesos religiously every month for the service. I don’t think we consumers deserve the type of service that this well known company is giving us. Smart is a huge company so why do they allow this things to happen.
So now I won’t have internet at home for God knows when. I can’t go to another ISP because I’m still on contract with them. Seriously SMART is not smart. If you need internet go to Globe or other ISPs. It was a huge mistake to get internet service from them, I got lured by the free printer that they will give if you sign up for the service. I have learned my lesson, never believe what they advertise.
Advertising is just make believe especially with SMART.
And their twitter name @smartcares, they don’t really care. They only care about their celebrity endorsers.
PS: Sorry for the rants, I’m just so pissed at them.
The world saw the Philippines fail! It’s embarrassing! We all know that this law was passed two days ago. The Philippine Cyber Crime Law is good in some points, there is now punishment for illegal activities on the web but there is one HUGE flaw. People shouldn’t be sued for libel just because they voiced their opinion. The Philippines is suppose to be a free country and a free country should have freedom of speech. I hope this could be amended and I heard it’s actually being amended. Apparently some of the senators who authored this law are ignorant about the internet and don’t know a lot on social media. The Filipino people are angered by this.
The next best thing to iPhone, I think. Here comes Sony Xperia Go. It’s scratch resistant, shock resistant and water proof. It comes with the Android OS. And since it’s from Sony it comes with the crystal clear screen and a great camera. I think this will be my project phone now. Watch the video below for more!
What a way to start my day. I was already running late, so I took a cab from La Trinidad until my work place. The driver even stopped by 7-11 because he said he was sleepy. I was so pissed I told him I was already running late, he said he will just drive faster.
When we arrived at my destination, I paid the driver and went out right away. I checked my bag, my phone wasn’t there anymore. I dropped my phone! I went outside again, taking my chance that the cab would still be there but he was gone. I’m under a post paid plan from Globe, I know they will just replace the sim card but not the phone.
I really love my android phone, I have half of my life there. My pictures, my files, my music. I have a back up of some of my files but I use that phone mainly for everything. I will miss Instagram definitely! I will miss taking picture with it. I won’t have InstaFriday for a while. I have been calling my number but the one who got my phone wasn’t picking up. And as of the moment the one who got my phone turned it off so I can’t contact my number anymore. I even threatened the one who got my phone that the phone has GPS and I will be able to track him and find him. To no surprise, it did not work.
I am still hoping that the one who got my phone will return it to Globe or even contact me. My contract with Globe Telecoms does not expire until next year so I really don’t have any chance of getting a new phone. I can’t afford to buy a new phone right now because this is not something that I am expecting. There are more important things in my life other than buying a new phone.
I guess right now all I need is a phone which I can use to make calls and texts. I think there are only 1 person who will return a lost phone out of maybe 1,000,000 people. I know it’s exaggeration but it’s true. I know a lot of people who lost their phone and never got it back.
A few years ago, I also found a phone in a cab but because my parents taught me that it’s not good to get something that’s not yours and I know the feeling of losing something very important to you, so I returned it to the owner. The owner was so happy when I returned her phone. I wish that happens to me to.
Providers should have a more advanced technology so that they can track lost phones. I asked Globe if they can track my lost phone they said they don’t have a way. Bahala na lang si Lord sa taong nakakuha ng phone ko.Tanggap ko na, wala na akong android. :(
