Yellow + Pixie

The title says it all, I wore yellow today and I’m debuting my pixie cut hair again hehe. A lame introduction isn’t it? I can’t seem to think of anything to wear today, I got tired of wearing dresses every Sunday that’s why I wore shorts. It’s my dream (seriously!) to wear shorts short but I don’t have the guts because of my huge thighs. Probably when I see the results of my Yoga sessions, I’d be able to do so but I know it will take months before these thighs become thinner. By the way, the shorts is a pair of jeans from Bench that I DIY-ed into shorts.

I find this yellow top perfect for the weather because it was extra sunny today and I think it’s always chic to wear flats with shorts. You can never go wrong with flats with shorts.

I cut my hair super short again, because my growing hair is getting in the way of my Yoga sessions. I get super sweaty when I do Power Yoga and I can feel my sweat dripping on my face and also, my hair is getting on my face even if I wear a head band or a clip. I am extremely serious about doing Yoga everyday and I don’t want anything to get in the way of my poses (ako na! haha!) so a pixie cut is the perfect hairstyle for Yoga. Plus a pixie is a hairstyle perfect for moms who don’t want to spend hours in front of the mirror just to achieve a certain hairstyle. I think a pixie is for women who’s fearless and and confident. I don’t want to hide in all that hair just to make me look feminine. I just believe that a pixie makes me look effortlessly chic (sabeee!)

We just stayed home for Father’s Day. We actually planned to eat out but my husband suggested that he will cook pancit canton that’s all made from scratch, including the noodles. My husband is really good in making hand made noodles. He makes them perfect every time! He wanted to cook because my gift to him for father’s day is a new pan, he said that’s what he wants for his special day.

It’s nice that he wanted to cook for us instead of me cooking for him on his special day. Don’t you think that’s a better way to celebrate father’s day?

The finished product! He made a very delicious pancit canton. Better than the pancit canton they sell in restaurants.

To my husband happy father’s day. You know sometimes I hate you so much because you are so stubborn. You are sometimes messy that an OC person like me would dislike very much. We fight sometimes but we still make up like nothing happened. You have changed so much, you are now a better version of yourself. It’s great to be married to you and I’m glad you are Uno’s father. I love you very much!

P.S.: Happy Father’s Day as well to Papa who’s in heaven now. I know you know that I greeted you through my blog. I think God has technology so he could let you read this hehe. I miss you and I love you!

I had a part in our church’s service this Sunday. I was assigned to do the tithes and offering. I felt really blessed after doing that part, I hope that our members learned to be more generous in giving to God. I try my best to give a part of my income to God. Every pay day I separate an amount to give, I’m not being self-righteous. I do have mishaps sometimes, but I learned na kahit na short na talaga ako basta ibigay ko yung para sa Kanya, He will provide what I’ll need. I have proven that so many times.

This is what I wore to church today. I wore this dress as a skirt, it was super hot today that’s why I had to wear an outfit that would keep me cool.

I want to share something. I know now why my husband approves all my outfits that I wear with my Salt Water sandals. He said he likes it because I look like a mom. I hope he means that I look like a woman, a grown-up woman. Maybe he thinks that sneakers with dresses are for the younger ones. I think he wants me to wear more grown-up shoes. I still love dresses with Keds but I think my husband is kind of right I have to dress my age.

I think last month BDJ sent an email to answer a survey and the first 500 to answer the survey will receive a special gift. I love free stuff, so agad agad I answered the survey and luckily I was included in the first 500. I received the gift today! I received an ideas journal and cash tracker. I personally love the cash tracker because moms need this, not to mention the super cute design. Now I can track our income and expenses properly!

If you don’t know BDJ, it actually stands for Belle Du Jour. They make the famous BDJ planner and now they have ventured into beauty boxes which is quite popular among beauty bloggers and beauty enthusiasts.

On Being Healthy

I can say that I’m a pretty healthy person. I don’t get sick very often and when I get sick usually it’s URTI. My doctor prescribed a nasal spray to relieve the symptoms of my allergic rhinitis. When I don’t have that I always sneeze which most of the time leads to colds but ever since I’ve been using that I never gets colds. I was pretty confident that I wouldn’t get sick because I don’t feel any symptoms. But last Tuesday, I woke up to a painful throat that escalated to URTI. Now I’m coughing and I have colds, I want to sleep all the time. I easily get irritated, ang sungit ko daw sabi ni Clyde. I’m really like that when I’m not feeling well, kung di lang kailangan sa office ng med cert I will not go to the doctor. I just want to stay at home and rest, MASA ako ngayon, masandal tulog haha!

Going back to last Tuesday, the night before my shift I had a dream that I was on sick leave. I always thought that our dreams are the opposite of what happens in reality but my dream came true. I am on a 3-day sick leave. It’s a bit of a blessing in disguise because even if I am sick, I get to stay at home and even get paid for it.

I really don’t know what lead to this, probably most people in the office are getting sick as well or it’s the season of URTI because we are shifting to the rainy season. I try my best to be healthy, I try to watch what I eat, I do Yoga almost everyday, I don’t smoke and drink, I take supplements, and I make sure I sleep at least 7 hours every night. I guess it’s not enough, I am no super human. I wish nobody in the house especially my son would catch my virus.

And because I am sick my husband made fish and chips.

I know I’ll feel better soon!

I wasn’t really sure of this outift. I was conscious that my tummy would protrude, so I asked my husband if it looked big. He said it wasn’t and again he loved the outfit! What a sigh of relief! Feel na feel ko tlaga na lumliit na ang tyan ko because of Yoga. Kakareerin ko na talaga ang Yoga! In fact I bought my very own Yoga mat today, of course through credit card. Wala sa budget yun e hehe.

Going back to the outfit, I always see on many stylish women, the chicness of t-shirt when paired with the right pieces. Dahil feeling chic ako, I tried it on myself, I wore a pencil skirt with it. I was looking at the mirror and I felt like there was something missing so I wore a belt. The belt completed the look. I still feel like it’s summer, hence the sandals.

Nagrereklamo na asawa ko kasi iisa lang daw background ko palagi haha!

For the little boy’s outfit.

We had a super long day this Sunday, after church we went to SM and finally my husband was able to decide which phone to get from Globe. He was suppose to renew his plan on May 20 pero super arte nya. Ayaw ba naman ng Galaxy S3 Mini. Panget daw un! Ayan ubos na ang S3 Mini bumagsak sya sa Hwawei. But in fairness, he got a pretty good deal. Globe is really improving their services.

I love Sundays! I love that I always get to spend time with my family!

I’m savoring the last days of summer by wearing outfits such as this.

For the first time, my husband said that he likes what I’m wearing. He said he loved the dress and sandals combo. Yay! I’ve worn this dress before and I’m wearing it again because I love it. It hides the pooch and everything I want to hide. It’s so figure flattering!

This time I’m wearing this with my current favorite shoe and the vintage looking satchel that I got from my office mate Abby. She does not only sell bags she also sells preloved boots.

By the way I want to share something. Nung nasa jeep kami papuntang SM, may sumakay na mag-ina. The child maybe was 1 year old the little girl was cute and her mom is quite pretty. She was wearing a top with plunging neckline and short shorts. As soon as they sat down in from of us, she started staring Uno from head to foot, I just looked at her. Uno was sitting on my lap and he started swinging his leg. I didn’t know Uno was swinging his leg when I saw her frown. As soon as I saw Uno swinging his leg, I told him to stop. All through out the trip after Uno did what he did, nakakunot noo sya. Nasagi lang naman sya ni Uno, di naman sya nasaktan. And I know Uno did not intend to do that, he was just playing. Siguro nainis sya dahil nasagi ang kanyang flawless na legs haha! My point is Uno is a child, when Uno gets bumped by an adult or gets hurt by accident I always let it go. Sometimes they don’t apologize but it’s ok, I still let it go. When I became a mom, I learned to let go of petty things. Probably I can’t expect other people to do same thing. May mga taong patola lang talaga haha! Yun lang naman.

Ang arte ko dito haha!

I tried wearing nail polish today, the only thing that my husband didn’t like. Keber! Hehe!

Mother's Day Gift (Sort of): My First Pair of Salt Water Sandals!

It’s my first pair of Salt Water Sandals!

Yay!

The brand is embossed is on each sandal.

It’s looks flat right?

But once you wear it, it follows the shape of your feet.

Why am I so excited about these sandals? It’s a special pair, it’s not your ordinary leather sandals. They look ordinary but they are not. Why? Because they are water proof even salt water proof. Perfect for summer and our rainy weather! They are super comfortable and extremely durable. Note the word extremely, here’s a proof that they last so long. Sorry Karen I exaggerated, it was 25 years not 50 years, haha! This product is a perfect example of you get what pay for. I’m not bragging ok, I just want share how wonderful these sandals are.

Salt Water has been around since the 1940’s so you bet that they know how to make a great sandal. It started as a sandal for children only but they started making sizes for adults. I love the vintage feel of these sandals, one colleague said that the design is very classic. It’s a great sandal because it almost looks good with any outfit. To the one who said that Salt Water is part of the “ugly shoe” trend, seriously? You think these sandals are ugly? I super disagree, these sandals are so cute!

I said on the title that this is sort of a mother’s day gift from my husband. Why sort of, because I paid for the half of the price. I was actually asking him to give me flowers on mother’s day as a gift but he said flowers wilt, he just gave me some money so I could just buy what I wanted. So thank you Bibi (that’s what we call each other)!

I really wanted to buy these online but the online seller won’t reply to my emails, FB messages and text messages, so I asked my sister to buy me a pair because I realy really really wanted to have these. I sent her the money and she bought it last Wednesday and I got it yesterday! By the way Salt Water is available at Swim at the Power Plant mall, I’m just not sure if there are other stores where you can buy them.

My sister made me pay for her taxi fare (imagine that?) because she said Power Plant is a long way from her work and from her house. She complained that it was hot. This is what she looked like after buying it.

Chambray is a kind of summer denim. It’s light weight enough to wear in the summer heat. Today’s outit is another way we can wear Chambray, this time I wore it as a jacket over a dress. Chambray gives it the tomboy vibe and the dress gives it a feminine look.

Like always I wore sneakers with it because I always go for comfort. I’m so excited for my Salt Water sandals to arrive because this outfit would have looked better with those. The dress is already waist defining but the belt gives it more definition.

Carmina, an office mate and a friend gave birth last May 17th through caesarian section. This baby was unexpected and what an unexpected surprise, it’s a boy! They have two girls and now they have Trace. I love baby boys, really, because it’s challenging to take care of them I think. They’re more active and it’s quite difficult to find clothes for them and not to mention their stuff are more expensive.

My most favorite thing about boys is that they love their mamas. Baby boys are more attached to their Moms than their Dads. I get mad at Uno sometimes but after a few minutes he kisses and hugs me again. Baby boys are very malambing!

Jenna Lyons of J. Crew love the orangey-red lipstick. I look up to her when it comes to style so I have to have that lip color too. This color brightens up your day, your face, and outfit, plus this shade of red suits most skin tone, it’s very versatile. I think my lip color is the highlight of my outfit. There’s nothing special about this outfit but my lip color is the best accessory for this OOTD.

I’ve worn this dress before, but I’m wearing it with tights and flats this time. I have a lot of mosquito bites on my legs, so to hide them, I wore tights. Hehe!

On a side note, don’t you think this dress will look great with Salt Water sandals. I can’t wait for my first pair to arrive!

Uno Turned 3! (Part 1)

I don’t want to go through the trouble and stress on planning a party that’s why we had the party at Mc Donald’s. It was a great party even if only four kids came. The kids that we were expecting to come did not come that’s why the one who played the games were adults. I was so glad that they were sport enough to play kid’s games. I am so thankful for them for making my son’s birthday super fun. Alam niyo na kung sino kayo. My son did not play but he was so happy when he saw us play. Yes us, I also had to join including my husband, when you are a parent you’d do anything for you child. Thanks to all his guests and the staff at McDonalds, Uno enjoyed his party very much!

The theme we chose was Toy Story. The people who hosted and organized the party were all awesome. They were all friendly and they really know what they were doing. The prizes and giveaways were all nice considering I only had to pay P2,495 for everything except for the food. Super sulit talaga sa McDonald’s di pa ako stressed hehe.

The food we had were chicken and spaghetti meal, fries and for dessert hot fudge sundae. Just enough to fill our tummies. Uno loved any type of spaghetti that’s why we have to have that and it’s a Filipino tradition to have something long for long life. And in fairness their fried chicken has improved, and of course their french fries are still the best, always crispy and well seasoned. And we will never forget their sundae, laging masarap. I’m glad that some McDonald’s stores are earth friendly now they don’t use styro products to serve their food. They use paper products now, something bio-degradable. I think all fast food chains should do this.

Not Your Usual Polka Dots

Last Sunday was my son’s third birthday and this is what I wore. I’m also obsessed with polka dots in case you don’t know, I love anything that has polka dots on them. So I had to buy this dress and because it was on sale. It’s a great opportunity to shop, hehe.

This dress is not your usual polka dots because the circles are not perfect circles and the dots are not arranged. This kind of pattern is very figure flattering, my sister said I look thin, plus the belt gives the illusion that I have waist. Again this dress is very versatile, you can wear it to the office and also you can wear it to a casual day like a children’s party.

I had to wear red lipstick for this outfit. I think it’s so perfect with the dress. Lipstick is Red Revival from Maybelline.

I love it when men look clean and well groomed, think James Dean. For me he’s the epitome of a clean, good smelling man. I have been asking my husband to get a haircut, even to the point that I nag him. He’s very stubborn sometimes that’s why I had to ask him almost everyday. I don’t want him to go back to his long hair. I hate that! So today he had a haircut and what surprised me is that he was checking Google images for men’s haircut. He saw a few and did not tell me what he will be getting.

He came back after a few minutes and surprised me with this haircut. I loved it, it’s so fashion forward! Fumafashion na ang asawa ko! And I really have to blog it because it’s a mile stone for me. It’s just a sign that he’s now conscious about how he looks but not to the point of being vain, I wouldn’t want that to happen. It makes me happy that he makes effort to make himself look good. It’s a great mother’s day gift!

Times like this I wish I live in Manila. I first saw theses sandals on the mommy-blogger Jackie go, I love how it looked because the design is so classic. And I just found out that these sandals are water proof and even salt water proof so they are perfect for summer. I think I want these as my rain shoes now, it’s more stylish than wearing those plastic shoes. Now I’m on my quest on finding where I can get these beautiful sandals.

I came up with a list of things that we could give to our moms on Mother’s Day, (I hope my husband reads this hehe.) These are things that I’m sure our mothers will love because I love all these things too! It’s a little bit of my wish list as well haha! I know giving our love and respect to our moms is the best gift we could ever give but sometimes it’s nice to give beautiful things to them. Personally I love receiving gifts, even the simplest of gifts make me happy. So this Mother’s Day let’s put a smile on our mother’s faces, shall we?

1. Give her her favorite perfume. This from Clinique is sure to brighten up her day with it’s floral and citrus scent./ 2. A dress, may it be LBD, LWD or a floral dress is sure to make a woman pretty. This from Madewell is nice floral number. There are also local brands like Bayo that makes wonderful fitting dresses./ 3. A versatile watch like this one from Swatch is nice gift. You can be sure that she’ll wear it with anything she wears. Or if you have more budget, a piece of jewelry is good gift too./ 4. Shoes, shoes, shoes! Personally I love these sandals from Madewell because it goes well with anything. A pair of flats is a great gift too. She’ll be more than happy to add a new pair to her shoe collection./ 5. It would be nice to gift her her favorite skin care regimen, or if she does not have any, give her a starter kit like this one from Clinique to keep her youthful looking./ 6. Oh flowers! Flowers are sure to make your mom happy. Give her her favorite flowers on her special day. I know she’ll love to see fresh flowers on the table. And don’t forget to add a handwritten note!/ 7. Give her a lipstick from a high end brand like this one from NARS or if you are on a budget there are a lot of drugstore brands that are pretty good like Maybelline.
