Katie Holmes Files for Divorce

6 years ago Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise got married and look so in love. I was so surprised and it made me sad when I found out that Katie Holmes filed for divorce. I thought this Hollywood power couple would last forever, they looked so in love and even had a lavish wedding. They have a beautiful daughter Suri. Their family looked so perfect but we are all wrong. I’m sure Katie have a very strong reason why she filed for divorce, well, I hope.

I look up to the marriages of a lot of popular couples, especially the marriage of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip. They just celebrated their 65th anniversary. I want that, I want our marriage to last forever. I also look up to the Epperson couples, I admire how these two keep the romance alive. Even same sex couples Portia de Rossi and Ellen Degeneres, their relationship is on the rocks. I know all marriages are shaken by a lot of things but remember the line: “for better or for worse, ‘till death do us part?” My parents weren’t married but they have been together for more than 25 years. My mom never left my dad in spite of his shortcomings. Things change and men change and my dad is a changed person now.

Mama and Papa!

I don’t have a perfect marriage. In the second year of our marriage, my husband wanted to get out of our marriage but I fought. I said to myself a broken family is not going to happen to my son. After months of praying and waiting he finally changed and our marriage is doing very well now. I have proven that giving a man some time alone will make him realize what he had lost. That’s really true, the man I fell in love with is finally back. I now understand why the women I see growing up never left their husbands.

Marriage is a lifetime commitment, and I hope you agree with me on that. I always tell my good friend Charles, to make sure that he is ready for a commitment when he gets married because marriage is something that you don’t throw away if you don’t want it anymore. Well, he will have a lot of time to prepare because they’re still young and they are just starting.

I’m glad there is no divorce in the Philippines, we only have annulment here and annulment takes years and it will cost a lot of money and the court will make sure that you have a valid reason before it gets approved.

Marriage is suppose to be a happy thing. It’s done by two people so much in love with each other. I always apply what Will Smith said in my marriage, “divorce is not an option.” Don’t you think it’s nice to wake up seeing the face of the one you love as years go by? Being with the same person as you grow old, when all your kids have their own families? So to my husband, we need to make it work OK?
